OPTIMIZATION OF HEALTH PROMOTION FOR TUBERCULOSIS PREVENTION AMONG COMMUNITIES IN THE WORKING AREA OF PUSKESMAS MUMBULSARI

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the infectious diseases with a high incidence rate in Indonesia. Limited public knowledge regarding the symptoms, transmission, prevention, and treatment of TB can increase the risk of delayed diagnosis and disease transmission within the community. This health promotion activity aimed to improve community knowledge and awareness of TB in the working area of Puskesmas Mumbulsari. The activity was conducted on May 09, 2026, at the Posyandu of Suco Village involving 20 participants. The methods used included lectures, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and educational leaflets. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test questionnaires to assess participants’ knowledge before and after the health education session. The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 27 in the pre-test to 65 in the post-test. Improvements were observed in participants’ understanding of TB causes, symptoms, transmission, prevention, immunization, and treatment. This health promotion activity was proven effective in increasing public understanding of TB and is expected to support prevention efforts, early detection, and control of TB transmission in the community.
