HALAL FOOD AND PUBLIC SPEAKING EDUCATION FOR STUDENTS AT ATH-THOYBAH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Abstract

Knowledge about halal food and drinks is an important thing that Muslims must know, especially for elementary school students. The ability to speak in public (public speaking) is also a skill that should be taught from an early age. Through a community service activity at SD Islam Ath Thoybah, we tried to educate the younger generation about the importance of knowing halal food and improving their public speaking skills. The method used in this activity was giving presentations about halal food, halal logos, and public speaking through interactive methods and educational games. After this activity, the 5th and 6th-grade students of SD Ath Thoybah showed a change in behavior. They became braver to stand up and share their opinions about types of halal food and drinks in front of the class. Therefore, this public speaking program needs to be continued to improve students' skills and reach more people (such as 4th, 5th, and 6th graders in the next period). Hopefully, it can make students more confident, at least in expressing their opinions.
